Vallisaari Summer Theatre

CRITICALLY ACCLAIMED TRAPPED RETURNS!

Last summer’s critically acclaimed hit returns to Vallisaari in summer 2026!

Two people. One unusual space, somewhere unknown.

NO EXIT. No way out. The walls seem to be closing in – perhaps physically, perhaps only in the mind.
A dead end. The catastrophe has already happened… or is it only just beginning?

We are TRAPPED.

But what happened before this moment?
How on earth did we end up here?
And most importantly – is it possible to get out… and is it even worth trying?

TRAPPED takes the audience backwards in time and deep into the minds of the protagonists. Flashbacks and glimpses of the past illuminate the chain of events that led to this moment. Each scene reveals a new layer: fractured memories, dreamlike moments, and perhaps truths one would rather not face.

The performance is set in Vallisaari’s unique warehouse building – a place where history echoes through the walls, ghosts of the past whisper, and mysterious nature surrounds it. An island that was once a fortress, a base, a military secret. Now it is the stage for a story where one is imprisoned both in space and within their own mind.

The performers of Stella Polaris improvise this captivating full-length play based on a starting point determined by the audience. Music and lighting shape the stage into a landscape where reality and dreams intertwine. Is escape possible? That remains to be seen.

TRAPPED – a story about how we got here.

Transport, schedules & ferry tickets

Vallisaari can be reached by JT-Line water bus. Please remember to purchase your ferry ticket in advance.

The journey from Market Square (Kauppatori) to Vallisaari takes approximately 20 minutes. Ferries run hourly from Kolera-allas, on the Esplanade side of Market Square.

On Vallisaari, the ferry arrives at the Luotsipiha pier on the southern side of the island. From there, it’s about a 5-minute walk to the theatre (Keltainen Vaja). The return ferry departs from the Torpedolahti pier on the eastern side of the island.

We recommend arriving at Market Square by public transport to reduce emissions. Parking near Market Square is very limited.

Ferry ticket prices (round trip):
Adults €9.80
Discount groups €6.80

Please check schedules and buy tickets in advance.

Arrive on the island early; we do not recommend taking the last possible ferry, as they can fill up and queues may be long. The theatre is not responsible for ferry delays or schedule changes.

You may also arrive by private boat:
Day visit €10
Overnight stay €29

Location & facilities

Vallisaari Summer Theatre is located at the Yellow Shed (Keltainen Vaja). There are signs on the island to guide you. The venue is covered, so rain is not an issue.

The venue has a licensed bar, open before the performance, during intermission, and after the show. The entire area is licensed, so bringing your own alcohol is not permitted.

We also warmly recommend visiting the Ice Cream Café Paja on Vallisaari.

Doors and café open one hour before the performance.

Accessibility note

Please note that Vallisaari can be challenging for visitors with reduced mobility. Paths are gravel and uneven in places, and the terrain is mostly hilly. Wheelchair users are advised to attend with an assistant.
